GANs Introduced

Ian Goodfellow, reportedly inspired by a conversation at a bar, invents Generative Adversarial Networks — two neural networks locked in a creative duel. One generates fake images; the other tries to spot the fakes. Through this adversarial dance, machines learn to create startlingly realistic content from nothing. GANs don't just advance AI — they force society to confront a new reality: seeing is no longer believing. Deepfakes, synthetic media, and AI art all trace their lineage to this single architecture.
